Sorority Event Style Guide
Recruitment season is finally over and you’ve found your dream sorority for the next four years, what’s next? Well… a lot! As a sorority sister, get ready to have your calendar jam-packed with fun and exciting events throughout the school year. With all these big events on the agenda, the next big question to ask yourself is… what are you going to wear?

Fashion is a way to show off your personality through your style; and if there’s one key takeaway from all the OOTD videos created during this year’s #BamaRushTok, it’s that sorority women KNOW how to dress. From game days to sisterhood events to rituals to formal nights, each event comes with its own dress code. We’re here to break down various events you may attend in the upcoming year and provide style suggestions!

You have your bid, your big, so now let’s get you dressed to impress as you begin to embark on the journey of a lifetime with your chosen sorority sisters!
Game Days

Get your Game Day Pins ready! Whether you’re into sports or not, if you go to a university with a big football team, then you know those game days are BIG. For many, game days are essentially fashion shows to wear their cutest, trendiest, or most stylish outfits. Depending on what school you attend, the outfits worn on game day can vary greatly. Across the board, wearing outfits that match your school colors is a common practice. If your school is more lowkey, then wearing outfits with DIY school shirts, tennis skirts, denim, jerseys, etc. are great ways to look cute while showing your school spirit. However, for many schools in the south going ALL OUT on game days is a must. Trendy dresses, mini skirts, cowboy boots, bandanas, and more are all great fashion choices to stand out on the game day. In addition to whatever you’re wearing, knowing how to accessorize is important. Adding a game day pin (a big pin with your sorority letters on it) makes for the perfect accessory to represent your sorority!

Ritual Attire

Rituals are unique ceremonies that are meant to create a bond between members and tie them to other sisters from years prior. The title “rituals” can come off as intimidating (especially if our only point of reference is hyper-dramatized TV shows like “Scream Queens”) but fear not! Rituals are special events that celebrate the values and uniqueness of each sorority's sisterhood. Every fraternity or sorority has its own set of secret rituals. Secret handshakes, code words, and other sorority values are among the most common practices at these ceremonies. Additionally, ritual attire can differ from sorority to sorority, but a very common practice is wearing all-white attire. As a new member, it’s highly recommended to invest in a white dress to wear for all future rituals! Here are some of the Queenly ritual attire recommendations:
Fraternity Pref Night

On many college campuses, fraternity pref night looks a lot different than sorority pref night, and oftentimes fraternity men will be encouraged to bring a date to their preference night. Perhaps you are one of the lucky ladies to accompany a date to their fraternity pref and are unsure of what to wear. Well, fraternity prefs are typically semi-formal events, so the goal is to dress up for a night out but nothing too over the top. Wearing something you can easily move and dance in like a cute cocktail dress or trendy jumpsuit would be the perfect outfit to wear while letting loose at a fraternity pref night! Also, check in with your date to see what they are wearing and if you two would want to color coordinate! Here are some of Queenly's recommendations for Fraternity Pref Night:

Mom’s Day

Depending on your sorority, Mom’s Day (or on some campuses Parents Day) is a highly popular event to help bring together your college and real-life family. The type of activity for this event can vary year by year. Tea parties, spa days, brunch, yoga classes, and philanthropy projects are all common activities for members and moms. When deciding what to wear, sometimes it’s fun to color coordinate or match with your mom! Because you are surrounded by parents and family, modesty in your fashion is often appreciated. Floral dresses, sundresses, or what you’d wear for your “Sunday Best” are always cute and safe options to go with. Check out these options:
Sisterhood Events

Behind every great sorority is an even stronger sisterhood. Sisterhood events are to help bring you closer to your sorority sisters through fun and exciting activities. The possible themes and events for Sisterhoods are endless. Fall-themed pumpkin patch outings, laser tag, yoga classes, volunteer opportunities, beach days, paint nights, and more! How you dress for sisterhood events truly can vary, but oftentimes cute comfy casual attire is the way to go. As always, check in with your sisters to see what they plan on wearing and always if photo ops are in the cards.

Sorority Formal

Everyone knows that sorority formals are essentially college proms! Similar to prom in high school, this formal typically happens near the end of the semester and it’s to celebrate the year. Unlike high school prom though… dress codes aren’t there to hold you back! Perhaps you’ve always wanted to wear a dress with a plunging neckline, high slit, cutouts, or a two-piece dress to a school dance but couldn't... Well, now this is your chance! Make a bold choice at your next sorority formal with one of these hot dresses:
"Shopping for your sorority wardrobe should be a breeze. A queen like you deserves royal treatment whether she’s buying a new dress online or shopping secondhand.
